Independent Travel: From One Traveller to Another

I'm Tricia (Annie) and with my soul mate and travel warrior husband Gary, I have spent over 14 years 'on the road'. Gary and I met backpacking in South Africa over 40 years ago and since then have travelled independently, at times with 3 children in tow, to 175 countries. When our children were grown, we retired early from our careers as teachers and took to the road full-time.

Sadly, Gary passed away suddenly last year. He died as all travellers should, on the road, doing what he loved most. They say old travellers never want to hang up their 'boots' and Gary never had to.

There have been times where I have wanted to hang up my 'boots' but travel is so much a part of me that I am instead travelling in search of new ' boots'. It may take me some time to break in my new boots and my journey can never be the same, but my story is not over yet.

I continue to travel on budget with a mix of volunteering, housesitting, visiting friends, presenting on cruise ships, cruising and over-landing . I would like to share my "grey nomad"life with you in the hope that those of you who are considering doing the same, may be encouraged to see that it really is possible- even if like me, you find yourself alone in this journey!
